Department Import

Overview

This document will outline the Inventory Department Import feature, which will allow users to import, set inactive/active and remove departments quickly and efficiently.

 

Procedure

The Inventory Department Import can be found by navigating to Software Settings → Inventory → Departments.

If security allows, click the Import button.  A filedialog will appear.  Select the import file.  If the import completes, it will display import statistics.

Import File Format

 

The file format required for importing Departments is as follows:

Worksheet Name: Department

 

Columns:

Column Name

Active\Inactive

Active, Inactive, Blank

Remove

Remove, Blank

 

If the Remove column is set to Remove then the import will attempt to remove the department from the database as long as it is not in use.  If it is in use or linked to records, then it will not remove it.

 

Security

There is a security feature within the Software settings list(found in User Settings) which will determine which users will be able to import departments.  It is under Software Settings → Inventory Departments → Import.
