Unit of Measure import

Overview

This document will outline the Unit of Measure Import feature, which will allow users to import, rename and remove unit of measures quickly and efficiently.

 

Procedure

The Unit of Measure Import can be found by navigating to Software Settings → Inventory → Unit of Measure.

If security allows, click the Import button.  A file dialog will appear.  Select the import file.  If the import completes, it will display import statistics.

Import File Format

 

The file format required for importing Unit of Measures is as follows:

Worksheet Name: UnitOfMeasure

 

Columns:

Column Name

Alphanumeric up to 4 characters

Remove

Remove, Blank

 

If the Remove column is set to Remove then the import will attempt to remove the unit of measure from the database as long as it is not in use.  If it is in use or linked to records, then it will not remove it.

 

If the Name column is filled in, the import would check to see if the value entered is different than the one in the database for the specific unit of measure.  If different, then it will attempt to update it.

 

Security

There is a security feature within the Software settings list(found in user settings) which will determine which users will be able to import unit of measures. It is under Software Settings → Unit of Measure → Import.
