Mass update bin location

Overview

This article explains how to update the Bin Location for items in mass by using the Min/Max Import/Export feature. 

 

Bin Location is used to indicate where the item is physically stored.

 

Procedures

 

Start by exporting the subset of items that you want to update the Bin Location – this is done using Min/Max Import/Export, found under the Inventory dropdown in Decor:

For this example, all items in the department 0042 -Windows: Blinds & Shading will be updated. Select the department, press Export Data, then choose wherever you want to save the file:

Next, open the spreadsheet. Note that there is one entry for every item per Store. Each item’s Bin is found in column P:

In the example, all stores are being updated to have the same Bin location. You can manually edit each cell or copy/paste. Here is the end result:

Once all desired changes have been made, Save and Exit out of the spreadsheet. Then, navigate back to Min/Max Import/Export within Decor and go to the Import tab:

Press Upload Data, navigate to the location of the file saved on your computer, then press Open to import the spreadsheet back into Decor:

Once uploaded, the changes can be reviewed for accuracy and then committed. In the example, there are a total of 36 changes being made and there were 0 errors with the imported spreadsheet:

From the above screenshot, you can see that the only value changing is the Bin Field, that the Old Value is blank, and that the New Value is the same per Item Number (i.e. item 41200 ischanging to Bin H2 for all 9 stores that previously did not have a bin value set).

 

Once ready, press Commit Changes then press Yes on this confirmation popup:

You will then get a popup indicating that the import was completed:

Viewing Item Maintenance for one of the items will now reflect the updated Bin location under the Purchasing and Stocking tab:
